For my song, I chose “When September ends” by Green day. In the song, the singer talks about how sad he is that the summer is ending and reflects on his father’s peaceful death. Then he informs the audience to wake him up when September ends. The message in the song is to enjoy everything life has to offer because life doesn’t go on forever. The meaning of the words is that the best things in life are not eternal and even when we want them to be.
I can learn from this song that life is a fickle companion and can both be your best friend and your worst enemy at different times. I can also learn to capitalize on what I have, when I have it. The singer is portraying someone who doesn’t want good things to end, but knows it has to. My life hasn’t been the best and I’ve had some bad days, but tomorrow is another day, so keep looking up. Lastly, I can see and relate how the singer feels. He doesn’t want the good times in his life to go by so fast. The singer can show through the lyrics alone how he feels and what he s dealing with. To sum up, “When September ends” is a song where the singer tells us to remember the good times in life and that time moves fast, so he doesn’t want everything to go by so fast and wants the listeners to know that the good times in life, while only temporary, are important to remember. So bear with me for a minute, let’s say that you have a deadline approaching and you still haven’t done your work. Suddenly, you realize that the deadline is tomorrow and you haven’t even started! Procrastination is a major problem because it causes work to be done sloppily, putting it off can make you forget to do the work altogether and It causes stress. For one, Procrastination can make work be done sloppily and not have the work fill all of the requirements. Most times, work that is put off to the last minute is rushed and is not done to meet the objective. Also, some say that they work better under pressure, well… According to The Guardian.com, the “adrenaline rush” is actually just relief that the task is done. Overall, Procrastination only results in poor work. Secondly, Procrastination can also lead to forgetfulness. There have been times where I have put off work, only to realize the night before it’s due that it’s incomplete. This is also another trait that is shared with many others, so this is quite a big problem. All the time I hear students say that they will do it tonight, only to come in the day before it’s due and have completely forgotten about it. Overall, Procrastination leads to forgetfulness with everything. Finally, Procrastination leads to stress, as I’ve already mentioned, the “adrenaline rush” you get is actually just relief for the work being done. Having something due that is looming over your head can cause stress and also make the person who has to do the work panic. It causes many things to pop up and it also can affect personal life. To sum up, Procrastination can cause stress and affect more than just a grade. If you still plan on putting of your important work for school until tomorrow and going out to go get some coffee, why? Why would you go and cause yourself more pain and stress? Procrastination is a major issue, so just get the work done rater than putting it off. It will only help the situation your in. My favorite Thanksgiving day memory was when I went to my aunt's house in scotch plains. My cousin Billy had the Xbox 360 and he let me play it. Now I know this isn't too exiting, but this is 6 year old me, not 13 year old me. Anyway, after this little diversion, I watched football with my cousins and played one of the most ingenious game ever invented, apples to apples. After which we ate (because, you know, it's thanksgiving) and I got to play football in the backyard with my cousins. Then, we came in for dessert and said our goodbyes, for now anyway. Happy Thanksgiving!
I believe that water slides are better than roller coasters. I believe this because they have much less wait times, you aren’t forced to go at insane speeds, and they aren’t as dangerous as roller coasters. For one, Water slides aren’t as popular as roller coasters, so the lines are shorter. Kingda ka is 456 feet tall, the tallest water slide in the water slide in the world is 130 feet tall, yes, there is a difference, however, Kingda ka lasts about 50 seconds, a water slide at 130 feet tall lasts about 4-10 seconds. This can please the thrill seekers and speed demons alike. And the wait is much less than Kingda ka. On roller coasters, you always go at one set speed, on most water slides, you can slow yourself down, or even spin around on tube slides, this works to a degree on most every water slide. Kingda ka moves at about 128 mph, the second fastest roller coaster in the world, however, you can go at a leisurely pace on most tube slides. Summit Plummet is 120 feet tall, is the tallest water slide in the U.S.A. Rests at Walt Disney World, and has an average speed of 55 mph. that is a 73 mph difference, Not everyone would like this, but is helps to have options. Lastly, many people have died or been very hurt on roller coasters, 4,400 kids are hurt on roller coasters per year, and between 2002 and 2005, only 2 people were killed at water parks, most likely in wave pools. In addition, 14 people have been killed on Kingda ka, while nobody has gotten hurt on water slides unless they failed to follow the rules. Water slides are safer than roller coasters because they have less of a chance of malfunction. Overall, water slides are better than roller coasters. They have faster wait times of the same experience. They can go at different speeds, and are much safer. So what are you waiting for?! Go ride some water slides! Sources: NBC news, Google. A new plan to make school start later and end later, NO THANKS! I personally like the length of the school day. While I love playing video games, and getting more time makes some half descent sense, My schedule revolves around the time that school starts and ends. It feels like something simple, but it would radically change MY schedule. Also, we already have stuff to worry about and things our parents have to deal with, so why add more to their plate. Face the music, this plan is a mistake.
I very recently bought the wii u, and it made me think, this is so underrated! So I wanted to set the record straight, with my own opinions. For this list, I will list the ones I have the most experience with, to the one I have the least experience with, and this list starts, right now!
Wii U: As I said earlier, I recently got this one, and also it's very underrated. There are so many little extra things to enhance the experience. There are two in particular. Miiverse, where people from around the world can chat about nintendo, and other games and ones coming soon. I love this feature to death and it's a godsend to chat with others, hopefully my blog will be just as good. Also, the e-shop is a place where you can use nintendo points cards to buy new, old and indie games. The presentation is amazing and all of it is great. Plus, its graphics look like Nintendo has already done HD 8.7/10 PS4: I can't give as much of an opinion for this one but, the PS4 looks great for launch in 14 days, with a BRUTAL E3 conference and the whole kingdom hearts 3 debacle. It looks great, however, it loses points for not showing nearly as many games as the others. It still looks crystal clear for launch in 14 days. 7.5/10 Xbox One: What can I say that hasn't already been said. The xbox one will drop like a rock. With the OUTRAGEOUS price of $499.99, and it's pitiful E3 conference, not to mention the NEW red-ring where your games lose ALL OF THEIR SOUND AND AUIDO! And practically no console showing at E3, THE XBOX ONE IS AN I-PHONE FOR YOUR TV. And before you say they patched it, they most likely had so many packaged products made prior to that announcement. Its points only come from two things, its enhanced graphics, and it's a pretty good Windows phone rip off. Overall, stay far away from this thing! 1.5/10 |
